Demi Lovato did an unexpected photoshoot with Vanity Fair‘s photographer Patrick Ecclesine with only three rules: “no makeup, no clothes, no retouching.” These are the results and trust me, are inspirable!
Check down below parts of her interview and my thoughts as always!
Demi, as you all know, started her career through Disney channel series and movies along with Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus that were the TOPs back then. Good old times man. Along the way her eating disorder got worse making her go on hiatus for a year. When she finally made her comeback on 2011 with her single “Skyscraper” the reaction was massive!
Her faithful fans appeared again helping her go through the fucked up media that started bashing her about her weight and “problems”, saying that she used them as an “excuse” because she was the only one “left behind” from her Disney squad!
Her way through the top wasn’t easy but it was worth it since she is now a healthy, damn fit, role model to a lot of young girls out there, and yeah we need more like her in this industry for obvious reasons!
Reading her interview in VF i couldn’t help but stay at Patrick’s words/thoughts at the end of their session. Somehow his words hit me more than hers. He sees what people can’t because of the cameras and lights and that’s the most precious thing! Not only for her as an artist but as a human too! People judge without thinking especially in this industry circle that looks how to eat up young artists than support and help them. I will put his words down below:
“The room emptied, and I wondered how I’d fallen into this situation. With only her assistant remaining, Lovato and I worked in near silence, making our way through the hotel room, communicating with subtle gestures, nods, and tilts of the head. Lovato had rarely posed nude before, so I had to be respectful of that and tread lightly. When I left her at three in the morning, she gave me a quick hug and thanked me for making her feel pretty. I thanked her for her confidence.”
As for her photoshoot i have to say that the concept is perfectly complete. Her confidence and peacefulness are harmonising so good that the pictures leave be speachless, in one hand, and proud on the other as a womam who supports projects like this!
